The date for the Campus Dedication and Grand Opening Celebration was Tuesday, December 1, 2015 with estimated attendance of about 1,000 people.
The Lincoln Academy Youth Jazz Ensemble performed before and after the main program. In addition, a “Showcase Space” was created where various individuals and organizations that had been involved in the project shared their contributions with area residents and dignitaries, with the goal to highlight as many aspects of the creation of the new campus as possible, as well as City services and KCPD recruitment. Also, campus tour were offered to visitors.
Kansas City poet and author Glenn North also addressed the dedication crowd. He shared how in addition to ceramics and other materials, the One Percent for Art project on the Campus by David Dahlquist and RDG Dahlquist Art Studio features an installation with North’s poetry. (Read the Poem here.)
